I thought I would jump out of bed at 3:30 this A.M, but the excitement made it impossible to sleep until about 1:30 and then I went into a deep sleep. Isn't it always like that?
Denny B took us and Michael and Edwina to the airport and we arrived at 5. Everything went like clockwork in Birmingham and within 45 mins., we were on our way. When we arrived in Charlotte, however, if it hadn't been for one of the attendants who called us a shuttle, we would have never made the plane. Charlotte's airport is huge! They were already boarding when we got there . Whew! The flights were both smooth and on time.
When we arrived in San Francisco, we were met by a Princess hostess who made sure we were on the bus to the ship. The bus took awhile to arrive and so we waited longer for the shuttle than we did for the planes. Our plane landed at 12:21, but we boarded the ship at 2:45. We then grabbed our life jackets and went to the muster drill. They encouraged us to go to the top deck for the sail away and sailing under the Golden Gate bridge. Well, it was absolutely freezing out there and our sail away did not occur until 6Pm and of course we missed it, as by that time we had headed to the buffet for dinner. Denny ran outside to get a picture and like to have froze to death.
Then we retired to our cabins to unpack and pass out. It was a long, long day.
