Day 10, May 6, 2013

Up early to see our first land in 9 days! We were on a private tour today to Blarney Castle, Cork, Cobh (Cove), St. Charles Fort and Kinsale. We headed off to Blarney Castle. First built in 1446. The main tower is still standing. Very, very medieval. Extremely narrow curving 120 steps lead to the top where you kiss the Blarney Stone. We only pretended.....very unsanitary:(. Went from there to Blarney Woolen Mills, toured the town of Cork, the Fort and finally to Kinsale. Kinsale was a neat little fishing village, built around a harbour. Very picturesque. We had our first Fish and Chips. Walked around town, had an ice cream and boarded the bus back to Cobh. Beautiful cathedral in Cobh.
A lot of the town turned out for our sail away as we'll as the town band. This town was where the Titanic's last port. Lots of info and museums commemorating it. Sad knowing they were as excited as we are and what happened. We didn't see any movie theatres, or other type of entertainment. We had a wonderful Irish tenor on board who performed for us.
After watching sail away with Bob and Karen, we headed to buffet, too tired to dress for dinner.
Tomorrow we are in Falmouth (Cornwall), England. We are doing a two hour cliff hike and another pub lunch:) dinner with the Richardsons in the Crown Grill.
For some reason, some of my posts are missing. Also no cell service. Hopefully tomorrow we will have cell service. Sorry for spelling and grammer....very tired
