May 13 (Monday) Oslo, Norway
This was a do-it-ourselves day. Our ship was docked about 300 yards from town and next to a medieval castle and fortress. We left the ship to walk around the harbor to catch a ferry over to Brygden Island to see the Viking museum and The Viking Open Air Folk museum.
The restored long boats, burial boats and all the restored artifacts were so interesting. So much history and the skill levels were remarkable. This was around 900 AD. Then we walked over to the open air museum where homes dating back to the 17th century were found and restored up to the 1950's The workmanship was remarkable, including very intricate work on the stables, storehouses and lofts. The beds were like cribs with all four sides solid. The beds were very short..leaving us to deduct that at that time, the people were very short.
By this time the cloudy skies opened up and we experienced a taste of Norway weather. Frigid, windy and wet. We had umbrellas but the wind was so strong they were very little help. We rode the ferry back and walked over to the Nobel Peace Museum, some of the Vigeland sculptures were in the town square. It was cold, wet and very windy....couldn't wait to get back on the ship.
Had dinner with Bob and Karen in the buffet and saw the Welcome Aboard Show before retiring. I think I would LOVE Oslo in better weather.

We decided to miss this town and we were told we did the right thing. Hail storm came up and everyone hurried back to the ship. I hit a brick wall and took a 3hr. Nap before going to dinner in the dining room and going to see 2 shows. One was a mentalist and 2 comedians. The comedians were hysterical.
I will do Warnemunde and Wismar tomorrow. Exhausted from one of the greatest tour days ever. I am too tired to do it justice.
We lose another hour tonight. That will make us 8 hrs. Ahead of CST. After that we lose another hour before St. Petersburg:(
Tomorrow is a sea day....boy do we need it!
Love you all.
