Sometimes it is hard for me to realize where we are. It seems so surreal. This morning we woke up in Copenhagen. It is a beautiful day but breezy and cold. The temp. is 49. After breakfast in the buffet, we head out to catch the Princess shuttle bus to the town centre...or so we thought.
It was kind of sad seeing new friends leaving, but I remembered how excited we were and was happy for all the new cruisers coming on. When you stay on like we are, they give you a new cruise card (your key to your room, to pay for things on the ship, and it gets you thru security when returning). You leave the ship with the old one and reboard with the new one.
Well, back to the bus.....when we were dropped off everyone was in shock. It was like where in the world are we. It was a very narrow back street by a high brick wall. After they oriented us, we started off and had a lot of fun Denny and I were off on our own and headed to the canal for a boat ride.
It was a great way to see the highlights. Copenhagen is an island and boats and bicycles are a main source of transportation.language was a little bit of a problem. We laughed at ourselves because you could tell the tourist.....we were all looking at our maps. We ate lunch from a street vendor. People were out all over town. Even though it was Sunday and the main department stores were closed. Lots of activity at Nyhavn by the canal. People of all ages drinking beer at 9 in the morning. I was a little disappointed in how dirty the streets were. Lots of new, modern buildings mixed in with the old.
Saw Hans Christian Anderson's home and of course the little mermaid statue.

We had a little rain shower on our way back to the bus. I was so glad I had some disposable ponchos.
We returned to the ship after walking around town for 5 hrs. Ate dinner with Karen and Bob and retired to our room exhausted.
Glad to say my allergy attack is much better. Tomorrow we wake up in another country....Oslo, Norway. Unbelievable.
