Day 7 Panama Canal

Today started at 5:45, with breakfast in the room. Then we grabbed our cups and coffee pot and headed to the front of our deck. To explain all the details would take too long in this blog, but it was very interesting.
Here we go

It was very close

View from the promenade

It was a very tight fit. These pictures were at the Gatun Locks on the Atlantic side.
There were 3 locks. It was very slow....kind of like watching paint dry. We watched from the front, the promenade deck and aft. Very different perspective from each position.
Then when we entered Gatun Lake, we were tendered to shore to catch a bus ride for an hour (saw some tropical rain forest and monies). After the bus ride, we caught a ferry to go thru the 3 more locks, the San Miguel lock and then the final 2 Miraflore locks before entering the Pacific Ocean. It was a very different perspective than on the large cruise ship. Our ship was built specifically for the canal; the new locks will be able to carry the new mega ships. We were served a light lunch. After clearing the locks, we caught our bus back for another hour long ride back to the ship that was docked in Colon, PA.
It was a long, long, long day. Turned our clocks back an hour and it couldn't have come at a better time.
Tomorrow Limon, Costa Rica.

Our ferry
